How NUSTAR came to be
NUSTAR rose on Kawit Point in the South Road Properties, a reclaimed waterfront district south of central Cebu City. Developed by Universal Hotels and Resorts, Inc. as a joint venture with the Cebu City Government, the roughly ₱18-billion project opened partially in 2022 as Cebu's first purpose-built integrated resort.
The complex occupies its own peninsula of about nine hectares and centres on a 21,000 m² gaming floor — described as the largest outside Metro Manila — wrapped in hotels, restaurants, retail and entertainment. A convention centre followed in 2023, broadening the resort into meetings and events.
Licensed by PAGCOR, the Philippine gaming regulator, NUSTAR has quickly become a landmark of Cebu's tourism district, drawing visitors for its casino, hotels and dining alike.
